Still, this is a minor downfall to the guitar, been using it for a year and haven't had anyone complain about it.Unfortunately the PS3 is Blue tooth, so any guitar you buy should require a usb dongle, not just these 3rd party guitars, (my guitar hero 3 guitar still required a connection through usb).I mean, again, this thing is reliable, full functioning, and very easy to get used to. Don't buy this guitar yet, since we don't ever know if it will work again.-Jack this guitar really isn't, it's rock solid. Finally, as of the last PS3 update, this guitar is useless. The only design flaw with the guitar is the neck. When a new update is released I can only hope that it makes my two Frontman guitars work.
The guitars are solid, the strum bar won't break like the Guitar Hero 4 guitar's. The neck is more rectangular-ish with curved edges than the guitar hero guitars which tend to incorporate a more crescent moon back side to the necks making it easy for people with small hands to hold. dont let the picture fool you, although it looks extremely cheap. Until then. Before the latest PS3 Update, this guitar was fantastic, I even got it from amazon over a year ago and it was only 15 bucks a guitar, so I was extremely happy.
I've grown used to it and have big enough hands where it doesn't bother me but if you have small hands the neck size of this guitar may be an issue for extended play. Sony updated their firmware and made the frontman guitars not work, they say there is a goofy temporary fix you can attempt by plugging/unplugging the usb dongle, but I haven't bothered to try that.
it will turn blue or orange which means it did register. turn the remote to back to guitar hero setting, the guitar will flash clear then it will either go to red (which means again it didn't register or.). Thanks and good luck. When you first turn on Rock Band (1 or 2) hook the reception remote in with it set on guitar hero setting then hit the button on the guitar, next hit the button on the remote again to go into fast blinking mode, then hit the button on the guitar to go into fast blinking mode then hit the button again and the light on the guitar will go red, this means the ps3 will not register the guitar, turn your remote to rock band setting the light on the guitar will go blue (the guitar is now registering but.). the game will act as if you are flying through hitting buttons so. If it did not register and it turned red, turn back and forth between the guitar hero and rock band settings the guitar will eventually pick up the remote after 3 to 5 switchs between the guitar hero and rock band settings, this is how i do it anyway.
We called back and they said that they would send us a new reciever box. I hope this fixes the problem when it arrives, but the whole thing is fishy. We hung up. They said to flip it over to the GH setting. The GH seems to work fine, although you can tell this is a few steps down in quality from the official Rock Band guitar. We have had nothing with problems so far when trying to play Rock Band. Nyko says that Playstation updated their software and made it incompatible with the reciever box when used for Rock Band. We tried it and had no reception at all.
As everyone else, this guitar is NOT WORKING ANY MORE. I'm prety upset because I have 5 FrontMan guitars and CANT USE THEM.They are not working with the new PS3 UPDATE.They are complete garbage now. They used to work great and I had a lot of fun with them, NOT ANYMORE.Don't buy this.
The first I couldnt figure out for the life of me because there are two settings on this guitar, those who own RB and those who own Guitar Hero. Worth the extra 20 bucks in the end. The second guitar just flat out stop working after a few months. If you can get it for 15 bucks somehow, go for it. Oh well Im done with this cheap plastic guitar and going to get the original guitar for RB2.
The price seems to have gone up since I bought this guitar and at this price (30 and over) I wouldnt touch this thing. Ive had two of these guitars and both ended up conking out. I own RB2 and I finally figured out that the stupid setting needs to be on Guitar Hero to work on RB, it was very frustrating. My advice, Pay the extra few bucks and have a high quality back up. I bought a cheap guitar so that when friends came over they'd have something to use.
But if you are paying close to 30 or more spend the extra few bucks and get the original Rock Band guitar not this cheap imitation. Its really weird because I can see the guitar is registering with the receiver but for the life of me cant figure out why it wont play.
